Llandrindod Wells Mid-week Walkers Programme

23rd of April to the 25th of July 2025

From the last Saturday in October walks COMMENCE at the start point at 1000 AM

From the last Saturday in March walks COMMENCE at the start point at 1030 AM

(Please arrive in time to put your boots on!)

Map references and What 3 Words are given for parking spots. Mileages are not sacrosanct.
Please bring a packed lunch, wear suitable footwear, and bring waterproofs as necessary.

Walks:

23-Apr: Llanwrtyd Wells - Exploration of the Irfon Valley

Great walk taking us from Llanwrtyd Wells along the banks of the River Irfon before accessing the hills beyond for fabulous views. We then exchange the distant views for forestry tracks which gradually open out to open moorland. After that we follow a bridleway that traverses the hills before dropping back down to the cars.

Conditions:6 Miles Parking at free public car park behind the pub - Neuadd Arms Hotel. If full, there is street parking nearby.

30-Apr: Kinsley Wood and Punpunton Hill

Parking in Kinsley Wood, just off the Clun road from Knighton. A steep start rewarded by coffee at the top (if you bring it with you!) on the Offa's Dyke Path and Heart of Wales Line Trail. Looking down on Knucklas and the viaduct. We then follow the Heart of Wales Line Trail to Holloway Rocks where we start our long descent towards the cars.

Conditions:7 Miles. One steep ascent and one steep descent but mostly flat between. No stiles but a few gates. Number 6.5 on the Tuffnell scale!

28-May: Llandeilo Graban Hill

Starting on the side of the hill above Llandeilo Graban at the same place as previously

Conditions:It will be around the normal length and I am planning to walk to Twm Tobacco's grave and then out to the road over the hill between Painscastle and Rhulen and then back along the top to the starting point.

04-Jun: Lingen - Kinsham Circular

Start from Lingen Church car park. A rural walk through farmland and estates, starting and finishing in the pretty village of Lingen, Herefordshire. Includes a climb up to Coles Hill Toposcope. This could be missed out if anyone didn't fancy the climb, but last time we did the walk we had lunch there.

25-Jun: A walk around Tor y Foel

The start is at dam at Talybont reservoir. Parking can be limited so car share as much as possible.The route climbs up through the trees to Tor y Foel with great views over the reservoir and the Beacons. The route then follows the Beacons Way and Usk Valley Walk back down to the reservoir.There is an option to make a short diversion to visit Llandetty Church.

Conditions:About 7miles. The climb up through the trees to the foot of Tor y Foel can be muddy in places if it has been wet, there are some short sections of rocky track and fallen trees in some places.
