21-Dec Xmas Walk and meal

Starting near Gwenddwr. Round the moors across the road and valley and back up to the cars. A two mile short cut by road a little after coffee. Those continuing should arrive back to get to the Wheelwright's arms in Erwood by car at about one o'clock.

07-Dec Brechfa Pool

The walk starts at Brechfa Pool and follows the road and track down to Ponde.There is then a steady climb up onto Felin-Fach Common.The return is down a track that is wet and muddy in places back to Ponde then returning to the cars back the same way we came.

30-Nov Glascwm Circular

"Parking is at edge of road by the church. Expect open, exposed hilltops and great views, weather permitting! Shorter Version:The walk can be cut to 4 miles which misses the steeper climb and the very steep section and awkward fence. The short cut back to the start will be unled but is very straightforward."

Conditions:Approx. 7 miles. This is a fairly demanding walk mainly on stony tracks or grass with a few hundred metres on tarmac. There are two longish climbs - the second one is steep in places. There is also a short but very steep section with a rather awkward fence to climb/step over (but no worse than others we have tackled).

23-Nov Aberedw Hill

Starting in the layby just as you turn off the Llanelwedd to Hundred House Road for Aberedw.

Conditions:"Around 7.5 miles, starts with 300 yards of flat, 200 yards and then we will climb up around 1,000 - 1,200 feet over the next mile over combination of a rough, muddy track, two fields and then a steep climb up to the top of Aberedw Hill. The 4.5 to 5 miles on top of the hill was stunning on Saturday, but is very open to the weather, we will finish the walk by coming down off the hill following the first 1.25 miles in reverse."

16-Nov Llandegley Rocks to Llandrindod

Get the bus from Llandrindod. It�s the 461 and leaves the bus station at 9.00. We think it best to go early at that time of year. It�s a lovely walk with some stunning views.

26-Oct Lake taking in Alpine bridge

"A circular walk from Llandrindod Lake via Bongam Bank & Dol-barcut Wood to Alpine Bridge and back by a different route. Hopefully some autumn colours in the trees. Park somewhere close to the Lake as the walk starts at the lay-by. Tea & cake at ours on the return for anyone who wishes, and people can make their own way back to the lake (either down Cefnllys Lane or through the woods)."

19-Oct Along the Wye out of Builth

Meeting at the Groe Car Park Builth (Other free street parking available). Walking parts of the Wye Valley Walkway with some deviations. Mix and Match previous walks.

Conditions:"About 7 Miles. Mostly level walking taking in the riverside,woodland and open space, soft in places but generally not too muddy unless heavy rain just before. Some road walking required."

012 Gladestry, Hanter Hill and Hergest Ridge"

"We will meet and park in the Village Hall Car Park, which is by the Church. The walk starts with a stroll through the village and then up a steady uphill assent onto Hergest Ridge. We will then proceed along the ridge for a couple of miles before crossing over onto the top of Hanter Hill. Next, back over to the ridge and over to the south side of the hill and back to Gladestry by following the hill fence. The last 0.5 to 0.75 miles of the walk will be the reverse of the first section."

05-Oct Talgarth to Llanelieu church via the Black Mountains College Campus.

Parking in the free carpark at the edge of Talgarth. The route takes us up to the new Black Mountains College Campus and then passes through the gliding club airstrip (watch your head). From there we pick up the Three Rivers Ride (watch out for horses) which leads to the Church. We return through a series of fields and wooded areas before arriving back in town which has refreshment opportunities where you are welcome to buy the walk leader tea and cake! Spectacular views throughout.

21-Sep Llangors Lake Tranquillity walk

Start � huge car park at Llangors lake. We will follow the flat path round part of the lake to take in the magical essence of this historic place before moving away to a hill fort to enjoy wonderful views all around. Then a slow descent along the 3 rivers ride back to the car park.

Conditions:"7.5 miles. Total ascent 1135 ft. and nearly all of this is in one stretch up to the hill fort. Otherwise it is fairly flat with good ground conditions. Stinging nettles might be an issue in a few places. There is a shorter version of the walk available to anyone who wants to take it, which avoids the steep section."

14-Sep Mouse Castle Wood and Wye Valley

Start Hay large car park at gate into field. Follow the Offas Dyke path to Cusop Church. Cross fields to Mouse Castle Wood. Cross fields to short road section and follow Wye Valley Walk back to Hay.

Conditions:The climb up to Mouse Castle is quite steep in places and goes on a bit. There also a few shorter climbs before there as well. Part of the Wye Valley Walk is closed due to bridge out so have sorted out a detour. The result being that the walk is about 8 miles..

07-Sep Marteg Bridge

Parking - Gilfach Lower car park near Marteg Bridge. Options for a 3.5 mile easy walk out and back along the Wye Valley country lane for those who fancy a short walk ( unguided back !)

Conditions:"7 miles including 2 miles on quiet country lane , one long and steep climb onto open moorland, some yomping and then tracks, a few other short climbs. Nice views. Long descent mostly gentle and some nice woodland."

31-Aug Llanbister

"Many people will know it as The Pound for those who don't, take A483 towards Newtown. Llanbister is about 9miles north of Llandod. Take B4356, a right hand turn off A483, stay on this road approx 2 miles. It climbs and descends to a small stream. Just over the bridge there is sharp left hand turn signposted Llanbadan Fynydd. Take this left hand turn and park on left on waste ground after about 100 yards."

Conditions:9.25 Miles. Total ascent is 1325ft Climbing up Hay Bluff on the Offa�s Dyke Path and descending steeply from the Cat�s Back. Return route is in the valley and is a long gentle climb back to the cars.

27-Jul Elan to the Wye

"Parking in the carpark at Pont ar Elan. The takes us up from the Elan Valley to cross the mountains before descending to the Wye Valley. Then after a short level stretch it is back up to cross the mountains again to return to Pont ar Elan via one, or maybe two, ancient cairns. Spectacular views throughout."

"Start point - Gro car park Llanidloes. This car park is well used and it may be necessary to leave cars at Mount Lane car park, Church Lane car park, or in an unrestricted street parking space. Return by bus from Llandinham - a chance to use bus passes! If we make good progress on the walk we will catch the 15.28 at Llandinam. Otherwise we'll be on the 16.28. Journey time back to Llanidloes is about 15 minutes."

04-May Llanwrtyd Wells

"Hopefully we will be able to park behind the Neuadd Arms Hotel, however, if this is full, there is another car park off Victoria Road. There isn't actually a parking sign to alert you to the lane taking you down to it but the grid ref is: SN 878 467. There is a bridge there to get over the river so people can congregate at the hotel before setting off. Failing that it will be every man/woman for themselves and find street parking. Whichever, we will start at 10.30am from the front of the hotel."

Conditions:"1012ft of ascent overall. Certainly one major ascent and a steep descent in the woods. The walk has two potential routes depending on the state of the river. If we can't cross via the stepping stones the walk will be around 8 miles. If we can use the stepping stones, it will be about 7.5 miles. Fingers crossed for good weather!"

27-Apr Llandeilo Hill Walk 28

"It is easy to get lost on Llandeilo Hill. Especially in mist, a compass (and/or GPS navigator) is recommended. There is a reasonable path but its course is not obvious. Some excellent views. An interesting waterfall near 105461. Hopefully the weather will be clear! It will be an enhanced version of this walk..."

Conditions:6.5 to 7 Miles. Steady climb away through the forest before descending to the Claerwen Valley to see waterfalls and cross a hidden wooden bridge which is rarely used. Steady climb after lunch to get great views of Caban Goch and the unfinished dam. 1306 ft of ascent. Well established paths for most of the way with the rest on tarmac.

Start at Forestry Car Park at the top of Mutton Dingle.

Conditions:8 miles It is all on good tracks apart from one short section where some yomping is required over the moor. This can get quite boggy after rain but was fine when I did it a few days ago. Quite a bit of the walk is in the Radnor Forest. There are also large sections with superb views - weather permitting. There is not a great deal of climbing as we start from the car park at the top of Mutton Dingle.

16-Mar Llanstephen Wander

To get to the start turn off at Erwood Craft Centre and go about 1.7 miles down the back road to Llanstephen Bridge and we will park on a very wide verge on the left hand side. Coffee and / or lunch will be in the churchyard of Llanstephen Church (TBC). There is a mile loop just before lunch if someone wanted a shorter walk around llanstephen church.

Conditions:Conditions:6.5 to 7 Miles. Muddy in places but generally stable conditions underfoot. 1522 ft of ascent which means a fair bit of up and down but nothing too steep. Final descent on tarmac. Spectacular views and we can get up close and personal with the Llangurig wind turbines. Also a chance to dip your toes in Marsh�s Pool

"Parking is by a disused quarry. Brondre-Fawr Hill, Davids Well and Red Lion Hill."

Start at Painscastle village hall. Route takes us up on to Llanbedr Hill and down to Llanbedr hamlet. Then on to the Begwms via Llanddewi Fach.

The start � street parking at SO 10850 68936. Steady climb through Dol-wen wood and over common land to the top of Maelienydd at 361 metres. Return with splendid view passing nearby Fort Gaer.

Starting at Brecfa Pool (just on from where Dave Briggs led his walk from an few weeks ago). The walk is around Llangoed / Brechfa Common's with Coffee and lunch both being taken at a trig point on Mynydd Forest.
