As we have to catch the bus back to Glasbury at 2.30pm I would like to suggest that we start from Erwood Station / Craft Centre at either 10am or 9.45am. Just remember bus passes will be required for the return Journey.
Start Point:Map 188 SO075454
What 3 words:strutting.breakfast.sheep
Conditions:"7.8 miles Apart from gaining about 150 feet of elevation right at the start of the walk, followed by a similar descent it will be a very flat walk along the banks of the river. There will be a few muddy stretches, but I was pleasently surprised by the underfoot conditions on Saturday. It is mainly on tracks and grassland, but there is a short piece of tarmac right at the start, another short piece either side of Llansteffan Bridge and quite a long stretch from the water works in to Llyswen and up to the old Recory and a final piece in Broughrood Brest."

Parking at Penpont Tearooms lower car park
Start Point:Map 200 SN915674
What 3 words:slipped.tailors.proclaims
Conditions:"Approx. 8.5 miles The walk is mainly on high open hills in the Elan Valley but also includes some oak woodland. There is one longish climb with one or two steep sections plus a long, very steep descent on a narrow gravelly track amongst the heather. Otherwise it is the usual up and down. It is also very wet and boggy in places. All this does make it a fairly demanding walk but please don't be put off - the views are magnificent and there are very nice spots for coffee and lunch! Unfortunately, the Penpont tearooms are not open on a Wednesday so no tea and cake there at the end of the walk I'm afraid."
Leader:Nick Tuffnell 01597 851476

Conditions:"Conditions:8 Miles. In the morning we follow old tracks which can be a touch muddy on a wet day. Dolau station is a great place for lunch; it also has a small indoor waiting room if it is raining although it isnt very big so we may have to draw lots on who goes inside. More hilly in the afternoon with some tarmac walking, the last bit of which is downhill back to the cars."
