2026 Walks in reverse order

Walks:

01-Apr: 10AM LLanyre

Start at Car park opposite LLanyre Church - same side as Bell Hotel.

Start Point:SO 200 044 623

Conditions:7 3/4 miles. 2 "pulls" - 325 and 440.Mixture of :- Minor roads, tracks, foot and bridle paths, by ways.Forest, Farmland, some mud!Great views!

25-Mar: 10AM Wye Valley from Newbridge

Following the Wye Valley walk from Newbridge for approx 4 miles then lanes back to the start.

18-Mar: 10AM Llangoed Hall and beyond

We start Station Road Boughrood. The Wye Valley Walk from Boughrood heading towards Llangoed Hall and beyond. Then do a sweeping route to Cornhill and Pen-yr-heol.Returning to the Wye Valley Walk to head back towards Boughrood.

Conditions:7 1/2 miles with 755ft of ascent.Three hills of increasing difficulty - sorry!Some lane walking, but quite muddy in places on the route.

11-Mar: 10AM New Radnor, The Smatcher & Castle Hill

We will climb to The Smatcher via Smatcher Wood . There is a lovely levelish path with great views to the South on a good day. We skirt round Castle Hill and descend past Molecatcher Wood and Pen Shenkin with views to Harley Dingle and the Whimble.

Conditions:7.25 miles 1217ft of ascent. Bound to be mud and likely to be slippy at times. Mostly farmland and some lane walking.

04-Mar: 10AM Around Hay

The start is at the gate at the bottom end of the large carpark in Hay.Note: The charge for parking for 4hrs is now £5.

Conditions:7.0 miles. Very muddy in places, especially on inclines so can be very slipperyThere is only one longish climb up through some woods and there are no stiles. The walk passes through the fields and woods around Hay.It finishes by following The Offa s Dyke Path back into Hay.

25-Feb: 10AM Walking with Glyndwr

Circular walk from Llananno following the Glyndwrs' Way for much of the route. Off road parking in a large layby.

Conditions: Conditions: 7 to 8 Miles. Most of the ascent is in the morning mainly on a country lane. We then perambulate along the Glyndwr's Way. This stretch is a wonderful plateau affording great views in all directions. Things get a touch muddy on the way down back to the road. That is a preparation for Muddy Mcmud face after lunch. Gaiters would be a good idea.

18-Feb: 10AM Circling Erwood

Starts from Erwood station, crossing the Wye and heading South to Trericket Mill. We then recross the Wye on Llanstephan bridge and return via Ciliau.

Conditions:Just over 6 miles and 1050 feet of ascent. Muddy and slippery in places.

11-Feb: 10AM Fforest fields

Starting from Cregrina village, parking where we did last time at my neighbour s driveway. The walk is on the hills above Cregrina including Llanfraith Hill and Aberedw hill.

04-Feb: 10AM Elan Valley

Meet at Lost Arc. Parking available. Go through Rhayader towards Elan Valley taking 2nd turn on the right as you go down the hill.

Conditions:About 7 1/2 Miles. Mixture of minor roads, tracks and public rights of way. Through Farmland and Woodland. Slopes but no real steepness.Excess water in places. Good views!Perhaps we could patronise the Lost Arc afterwards.

28-Jan: 10AM Lollipop walk from Ditchyeld Bridge

Nice walk following Offa's Dyke path for much of it.

Conditions:7 miles. Long ascent followed by a long steepish descent and a long steep uphill ! Mostly on paths but some road walking. Muddy in places. Beautiful views ! Fingers crossed !

Due to the Weather the walk today is postponed but there will be a walk from the Lake to Shakey Bridge for any brave walkers. Meet at the Lake at 10AM

14-Jan: 10AM Floodgates Kington

Limited parking at Floodgates on the left hand side of the road as you approach the right hand turn to Kington but some on the opposite side . Around Bradnor and Rushock hills taking in a little of Offas dyke and Mortimer trail.

Conditions:6.5 Miles only 3 stiles.

Conditions:Relatively easy walk, mainly across open moorland. It will be boggy in places. Lovely views throughout.
